12118690_10207685109584169_4227442327936933715_nI was selected to participate in the 2015 WTF-KHU Partnership Program (Coaches Program) from 12th to 25th October 2015. The program was attended by 71 participants from 26 countries.
2015-10-14-21.28.22Throughout the course, we were exposed to practical/physical and theoretical trainings which include Sparring, Poomsae, Extreme Taekwondo 2015-10-23-19.39.31(tricking), Taekwondo Aerobics, Demonstration, Taekwondo Nutrition, Taekwondo Philosophy, and etc. . In addition, the program also included classes relating to the Korean culture such as K-Pop Dance, Korean Language, and etc.
mmexport1445679921935There were 3 sessions of training per day with 3 hours of training per session. The physical training sessions were exhausting as the participants were only given 2 break sessions of 3 minutes each. I was thrilled and amazed to see some of the coaches / masters with over 50 years of age performing like a young athlete – good stamina, flexibility, strength, speed, and etc.
It was indeed a great learning and growing experience as I learnt more than what the program has offered. It gave me the opportunity to get along and communicate with people from different countries, learning about different cultures and the operation of their Dojangs (training centre), and most importantly, establishing network with other coaches to obtain the opportunity for our team to participate in International Tournaments.
Lastly, I am especially grateful and thankful to Mr. and Mrs. Leong for giving me the opportunity to participate in this program which has brought me much knowledge and experience.

I would like to thank Master Leong for giving me this opportunity to pen a few words.

IMG_7819It was great to be able to train in Korea. I have gain a lot experience and make new friends from some other country. We have Learn new things in Taekwondo instead of just doing IMG_7820Sparring or Poomsae. There are a lot of things you can Learn in Taekwondo. The Sparring class is different from what we have train here. Moreover, we had rest days but It’s not just staying in the room but went many places. We went to the Korean Palace and some IMG_7821other places. But my favourite place that we went was their Waterpark. It was a fun experience.

If you had the chance to go. Just go you will gain a lot of experience. Train hard don’t waste this opportunity. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me to go. It was not easy but I did it. I am not who I am today without my parents and coaches. My coaches have been there for me since I started to do sparring. You may have not win some tournament but don’t give up.

There are a lot of tournament here. Wish you guys all the best and keep on fighting. As Bruce Lee once said ” Even today, I dare not say that I have reached a state of achievement, I am still learning, for learning is boundless “-Bruce Lee

The Champion

“Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.”

~T. Alan Armstrong~

To all PST fans, students, coach and parents alike, paraphrase the quote to make it yours. And read it out to yourself everyday.

I am doing it NOW.

“Eleen did not become Champion when she becomes Number 1. She becomes Number 1 because of the HOURS, WEEKS, MONTHS and YEARS she spend preparing for it, The Victorious Performance itself is merely the demonstration of her Championship Character”
