Training with the Malaysian Olympian, Elaine Teo

Yesterday, the Malaysian Taekwondo Olympian, Ms Elaine Teo came to town, to our very own center in Taman Bayu Tinggi. The members were overwhelmed with excitement. Some screamed with delight when they learned she is coming. For a few it was their dream came true yesterday. They had heard a lot about her and yesterday was the first time they got the chance to see her in person. Watch the video, it will tell the whole story…

DSC_2672“Are you free to go out this Saturday?”

Usually when I get this question, I would decline most of time. Why is it so?

DSC_2699This is because I have to attend my taekwondo training at school in the evening. Through taekwondo training, we can strengthen ourselves, and most importantly learn self-defense. When you encounter evildoers, you don’t need to be afraid. You can fight back by DSC_2741DSC_3177applying what you had learn in training. But sometimes evildoers too have weapons that can kill or hurt you and you still need to protect yourself by running away.

Not only that, we could also relieve stress by learning taekwondo in SMJK Kwang Hua. Parents don’t have to worry about their children’s safety, because it’s totally safe here in school. Of all the benefits we got through taekwondo, is all thanks to Master Leong and his assistant Mr. Tan Kien Tat for giving us the opportunity to learn.

Are you touched? Yes? Okay, let me tell you more about it. Taekwondo Club in SMJK Kwang Hua has over 40 years of history. Our training is held on every Saturday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at dataran SMJK Kwang Hua. Besides the training, there are also sparing class before training and training class which is self-defense class using stick after training.

You are warmly welcome to join us!

2015 WTF-KHU Partnership Program (Coaches Program)

Submitted by: Tan Seng Huat

12118690_10207685109584169_4227442327936933715_nI was selected to participate in the 2015 WTF-KHU Partnership Program (Coaches Program) from 12th to 25th October 2015. The program was attended by 71 participants from 26 countries.
2015-10-14-21.28.22Throughout the course, we were exposed to practical/physical and theoretical trainings which include Sparring, Poomsae, Extreme Taekwondo 2015-10-23-19.39.31(tricking), Taekwondo Aerobics, Demonstration, Taekwondo Nutrition, Taekwondo Philosophy, and etc. . In addition, the program also included classes relating to the Korean culture such as K-Pop Dance, Korean Language, and etc.
mmexport1445679921935There were 3 sessions of training per day with 3 hours of training per session. The physical training sessions were exhausting as the participants were only given 2 break sessions of 3 minutes each. I was thrilled and amazed to see some of the coaches / masters with over 50 years of age performing like a young athlete – good stamina, flexibility, strength, speed, and etc.
It was indeed a great learning and growing experience as I learnt more than what the program has offered. It gave me the opportunity to get along and communicate with people from different countries, learning about different cultures and the operation of their Dojangs (training centre), and most importantly, establishing network with other coaches to obtain the opportunity for our team to participate in International Tournaments.
Lastly, I am especially grateful and thankful to Mr. and Mrs. Leong for giving me the opportunity to participate in this program which has brought me much knowledge and experience.
